Conflating criminology and sociology, Ferrell presents an anarchist vision of social justice. His two central concerns are the spiraling of laws (knee-jerk response legislation that leads to an even worse set of laws than it was meant to mediate) and the magnitude of state powers that leave people virtually powerless.
